Alright so... Band review?
Ive only recently gotten into this band and Im not quite sure how i heard about them but as it turns out they are produced by Howard Bilerman (zOMG i know him!). We Are Wolves are a bilingual electro-rock band from Montreal that sound a little like Yeasayer (dare i be so bold). Anyways my knowledge of the band is almost none, and of music in general, even less. But I will say this. WAW arent one of those crazy life changing revolutionary bands, they are simple, and in some ways their sound is a little (just a little) tired. They boast a raunchy rock-pop steez with a noisy, 'crowded', and heavily synthesized sound. Their newest shit, 'invisible violence' (october 2009) is, as Pitchfork has noted, way more tame then its predecessor. When reading Pitchforks review they actually seem a little pissed haha, but i dont really see there new approach as a bad thing. Bitchfork says, "Even the band seems bored with their chosen genre, and they can't seem to muster the level of intensity that once set their electro-rock apart." But in all honesty "electro-rock" can get pretty fuckin old, pretty fuckin fast, and sometimes even down right irritating. So good on them for switching it up a bit, because if you listen to their "best song" off the last album, 'Fight & Kiss' more than 5 times, it gets fuckin' annoying. With that being said, I am no die hard fan and their lack of integrity does not bug me one bit. I actually prefer the newer album because its more toned down, and easier to listen to. WAW is a pretty intoxicating band, with some good bangers, new and old.
We Are Wolves - Blue
6.75 out of 10 on the Sickter Scale.
Yeah take that pitchfork, 2 motherfuckin' decimal points.
